The world would like us to believe that Jesus is just another instance of the charismatic religious founder. But, in fact, he is far too strange to be put in that box. He is a teacher of strange things, things unheard of since the founding of the world. Strangest of all? His own identity. To know him is to be given a hope the world cannot give.
It’s easy to turn the parable of the talents (Matt. 25:14-30) into a lesson on the importance of charitable giving, or of increasing your tithe, or of using your ‘gifts and talents’ around the parish more. And without denying that it can mean all of those things, this parable means a great deal more. For instance, have you ever noticed that this is the last parable Jesus offers before describing the Last Judgment? So what would it look like to take this parable seriously, as a foundation of the spiritual life?

It's no surprise our Lord and Savior, the God-man Jesus Christ perfectly demonstrates how to defend what God has revealed. In this talk Trent walks us through the debates and dialogues Jesus had with his critics and shows how we can imitate our Lord in using our minds and hearts when sharing the Faith today.
Jesus’ story in Luke 15 of the prodigal son, his other brother, and their loving and patient father is one of the most famous, and complex, of his parables—one in which Jesus’ daring and dangerous pedagogy is put on full display. In this talk we will examine the details of this parable to try to tease out, as much as we can, the many different layers of Jesus’ teaching.
Two full chapters of the Gospel of Matthew describe multiple confrontations between Our Lord and the chief priests, Pharisees, scribes and Sadducees. These confrontations lead to multiple parables, teachings, and even miracles of our Lord that seem to lead—even the miracles—to an increasing rage and hatred from those who were leaders of God’s people in the first century. When Jesus asks them what they think the owner of the vineyard will do to the men who killed his son, they unwittingly condemn themselves by saying, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.” A reader of the parable might ask, “Was Jesus condemning the Jews collectively?” If not, who was he condemning? What does a correct interpretation of this parable tell us about interpreting the whole of the New Testament? Who was Jesus really presenting as the antagonists in the story? The answer to that question will change both the way we read Scripture and the way we live our lives for Jesus Christ.
The Samaritan woman met Jesus at the well and she discovered both how well he knew her and how much he loved her. His mercy transformed her into a great evangelizer - and he can do this for us as well.

Holy Mass Saturday morning at the Catholic Answers National Conference.
Besides predicting his death and resurrection, Jesus is known for issuing one major prophecy. All three synoptic Gospels devote a great deal of space to it, yet it is widely misunderstood. People assume he was talking about the end for the world, but he wasn't, and they have developed many inaccurate theories as a result. In this compelling talk, Jimmy Akin takes you through a detective story to learn about this prophecy, what it really means, and its significance--both for the early Christians and for us today.
St. John tells us: For this purpose, the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil. St. Luke's account of the temptation in the desert shows us how Jesus undoes the work of Satan and offers us an example of how to confront and overcome temptation. St. Luke's account is particularly remarkable for how it reveals the role of the priesthood of Jesus Christ in the destruction of the works of the devil.
We’re all familiar with Jesus’ parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31). But do we understand it? Does the rich man go to hell or purgatory? Is “Abraham’s bosom” heaven? Which truths about the afterlife can we learn from the parable? How we answer these and other questions determines what path we might take in certain apologetical discussions and which sort of moral exhortations we take from the parable and apply to our own lives. In this talk, Karlo Broussard will answer all these questions and more, unpacking the truths embedded in a parable that serves the ministry of apologetics and provides the material for some good ol’ fashion bible preaching about the Christian life.
Hear how Jesus's guidance for living cooperates and collides with modern psychology.
The journey on the Road to Emmaus is one of the best Bible studies ever, with Jesus Himself leading it. But it’s also a story of conversion—and it points to the importance of our own ongoing conversion. Dr. Scott Hahn’s presentation will encourage all Catholics to know the importance of studying sacred scripture and inviting them to dive deeper into the riches of our catholic faith, most especially by cultivating Eucharistic Amazement and Revival.
